Asian Birds Eye Chilli
Asian Birds Eye Chilli is one of the most well known chilli varieties. Available in almost every supermarket.
The plant grows to about 1.7 metre in a pot – even bigger if it’s planted in the ground (ours is and it has grown to a height of 2 metres).
Easy to grow and furthermore a great producer of small thin chillies. The pods are approximately 2.5 cm in length by 1 cm wide. Ripen from green to bright red and have a beautiful upward pointing shape. Very used in Asian dishes, pickled or in a hot sauce due to its neutral flavour. We use the Asian Birds Eye together with Scotch Bonnet in our AfterBurner Chilli Sauce.
Flavour wise: Very neutral taste and that why you pickle them with white vinegar, soy sauce and salt.
