De Arbol Blood
‘A fantastic Mexican Chilli’
The De Arbol Blood is a great looking Mexican chilli. The plant grows really well in a pot to about 60 cm in height, and will grow bigger, if you plant it in the ground.
The pods are about 5 to 7 cm long and 0,5 to 0,9 cm wide. It is an amazing producer and you will pick pods for many months. When they are ripe they have a bright red colour, and it always seems to have pods to pick. One of our favourites for cooking as great flavour and decent heat. De Arbol Blood is excellent in salads, pickling and stir fries.
How to pickle chillies:
1 tbsp of sugar per 100 ml of vinegar
1 fresh organic lime
Cut the lime into thin slices. Put a few slice of lime in a clean jar. Then add some chillies, slices of lime, and a layer of chilli again. Add sugar (Use 1 tablespoon of sugar per 100 ml of vinegar). Pour in white vinegar filling the jar. Put the lid on and leave for a month.
