Weight loss and Chilli
Chilli doesn’t just heat up your mouth, the spicy hotness of a chilli pepper also kick-starts your body’s fat burners. Several studies have been conducted to find out how and why consuming chillies can lead to a weight loss. The findings have pinpointed capsaicin, the active ingredient of chilli, as the reason to burn fat more quickly.
When you eat chilli, the capsaicin triggers the pain receptors in your mouth. The pain receptors send a message to your brain saying “you are in pain and relief is needed”. Your brain responds to this cry for help by activating the sympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system activates a fight or flight response. This response will increase the blood pressure, heart rate, blood sugars and fats in order to supply the body with extra energy. It will increase the muscle tension in order to provide the body with extra speed and strength.
An interesting study about weight loss and chilli has shown, that by eating chilli and medium-chain triglycerides (Coconut oil & palm oil) every day, will boost your metabolism.
Researchers have found that the heat generated by chilli can actually speed up your metabolism and oxidize layers of fat.
