Description
Serrano Pepper
Capsicum Annuum
“Amazing flavour and texture”
Serrano Pepper originates from the mountainous regions of the Mexican states of Puebla and Hidalgo.
The plant grows to about a meter in a pot, but if you plant it in the ground it can easily grow to about 2 meters high.
The Serrano Pepper is a good producer of 7-10 cm long pods. The flesh is thick and soft a bit like taking a bit of a tomato in the texture. Would be great in a salad or in a salsa.
Unripe Serrano pods are green and they mature to a bright red. They are very meaty and thus they do not dry very well. A good producer and one of the best for Salsa. The Serrano Pepper is one of the most used chillies in Mexican cuisine.
The Serrano is similar to the jalapeño in its look, but this pepper is hotter. On the Scoville Heat Scale the Serrano Pepper can be between 10,000 and 25,000 SHU.
