Rezha Macedonian Pepper
‘Also known as Vezeni Piperki or Vezena Paprika’
C. Annuum
The Rezha Macedonian Pepper is a very different chilli variety from Macedonia. An old chilli variety grown for hundreds of years and Rezha means “cut” or “sliced”. What an appropriate name, due to the chilli looks like it has been cut lots of times.
The plant grows well in a pot to about 70 cm in height and is a bushy type of chilli. Easy to grow and maintain.
What is unique about this chilli is the huge corked pods. They start off green and end up a dark red full of these cut lines.
When you dry these chillies, they get an amazing smell and the heat level increases. Therefore they would make a great chilli powder. Fresh they are very sweet with a light apple flavour to them. Use them fresh in a salad or make a delicious chilli relish.
