Description
Nagabon Jolokia
C. Chinense
Years ago we supplied The Chilli Factory with Bih Jolokia seeds and out of 500 plants grown, one showed different traits, some similar to the Scotch Bonnet. Neil was asked about it, when he was visiting the Chilli Factory. Neil and Marcel (Co-owner of the Chilli Factory) named it “The Nagabon”. Neil brought some seeds back home and worked for a few years stabilising it to get our version
The Nagabon Jolokia is a C. Chinense. The plant grows like a Bih Jolokia to well over a meter and pods up like a Scotch Bonnet with heaps of pods weighing over 10 g. The pods look like big fat Naga’s and turn from a green to a bright red. The flavour is sweet and the heat intense and the plant is a great producer. We can only recommend the Nagabon.
Flavour Wise: In the start it tastes a bit nagaish, then comes a sweet flavour and there’s none of the “bitterness” that people say naga’s have.
Heat Wise: Hot – just under Naga heat approx 800.000 SHU.
