Cheongyang Gochu Chilli

‘For Spicy Korean Cooking’

C. Annuum

Cheongyang Gochu Chilli is a Korean variety named after the  ‘CHEONYANG REGION’, where these chillies were first produced.  It is also known as ‘Chungyang Red Pepper’ and it’s supposed to be the hottest chilli variety in Korea.

We got this and a few other Korean varieties from a very good friend in Korea and they seem to grow really well here in Australia. Even in the middle of winter they are still going along.

The plant grows well in a pot to about 70 cm in height and is great great producer. If you can plant it in the ground, you would get a much bigger plant.

The pods look similar to the Cayenne Pepper, but are bit thinner and they start off green and ends up red.  Size wise the pods are 10 cm long and just under 1 cm wide.

You will be able to use this chilli in any cooking, for pickling or they would also make a great chilli powder.

Flavour wise: Taste similar to the Asian Birdseye, but a bit more sweet and tangier, and actually really nice.

Heat level: Mid heat

10-12 chilli seeds per pack.
