Buena Mulata

‘Stunning Purple Pods & an amazing colour change’

C. Annuum

Buena Mulata looks amazing chock full of purple pods. William Woys Weaver got to this chilli from his grandfather’s collection. His grandfather received the pepper from African-American folk artist Horace Pippin back in 1944, so an old variety. The amazing thing about this chilli is the colour changes during ripening. It goes from purple to pinkish-flesh color, then orange, and eventually to a deep red. Some pods have black stripes through them.

It grows well in a pot and even better in the ground. In a pot it grows to about a 60 cm in height and it a great producer of 8-10 cm long pods.

It would be excellent in any dish, as a salsa or a delicious chilli powder. Pickling would be a great idea with this chilli as well.

This is one of our new favourite chilli varieties and we are sure you will love it as well. It is breathtaking once it is packed with pods with both colours on it. Another bonus beside the look is the nice sweet flavour the pods have.

Flavour wise: They have a  sweet flavour and it stays for a fair while.

Heat wise: Upper mid heat. A chilli for everyone.

We Recommend you try our variety seed packs for an even BIGGER Discount

Comes in a packet with 10-12 chilli seeds.

Great taste! The colour change is so beautiful, I would grow them just to look at their rainbows.
