Here we have another amazing Baccatum variety from Peru and Bolivia. A big dangly bush full of glowing orange chilli peppers. The Aji Colorado Orange grows well in a pot to about a metre high and as wide. If you plant it in the ground it would grow really big, so you will need a big spot for this beauty.
These conical pendant pods are very crunchy and thin-walled and can be used fresh or dry them for a delicious powder.
The colour change goes from green to a warm orange and then they are ready to be eaten.
You will easily recognize the Baccatum species are by their flowers with the greenish or straw coloured spots on the corollas. An easy variety to grow and add bonus is their long season. They like growing in a cooler and shady spot.
Pods size: 8-9 cm long and 1.5-2 cm wide
Flavour wise: They have a delicious fresh bean like flavour
Heat level: Pleasant medium heat.
