Red Savina Habanero

‘Former World Record Holder for the hottest chilli’

C. Chinense

The Red Savina Habanero has been selectively bred to produce hotter, heavier and larger peppers. With a SHU (Scoville Heat Units) of 580.000 the Savina Habanero was the World Hottest Chilli from 1994 until 2006. Thereafter, came Bhut Jolokia, Infinity, Viper Naga, Butch T Scorpion and now Carolina Reaper.

The Habanero is one of the most well known and famous chilli varieties you can get. Originally it is from the Amazon region, and through there it spread to Mexico. Now it’s one of the most known chilli peppers in the world.

The plant grows well in a pot to about 70-80 cm in height and would grow much bigger, if you plant it in the ground.

First the pods start off a dark green and then change to fiery red, when they are fully mature. The amazing thing about this chilli is the very fruity flavour with a slight pineapple taste as well, and it will be hot enough to suit even the most dedicated chilli lover. Furthermore it is a great producer, so you will get to pick a lot of pods.

Perfect for a hot sauce, any dish that requires some heat or make your own super charged chilli powder. All in all a great chilli and we can only recommend it.
