Chungyang Red Pepper
From Korea comes the Chungyang Red Pepper, also called Cheong-yang Gochu. We got it from Korea last season and it has been growing really well here in Australia. Even in the middle of winter it was still going along. It’s a small-sized chili pepper, that has a strong burning sensation when eaten. The Chungyang Red Pepper gets to around a meter tall in a pot, so it would get a bit bigger in the ground. The pods look similar to the Asian Birdseye, but a bit thinner and they start off green and ends up red. The pods are 4-5 cm long, just under 1 cm wide.
Flavour wise: Taste similar to the Asian Birdseye but a bit more sweet and tangier and is really nice.
Heat level: Mid heat 6/10
